New york: Major US stock indices opened higher on Wall Street on the first trading day of 2026. The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened 42.7 points higher, or 0.09 percent, at 48,105.98.
According to Qatar News Agency, the S and P 500 rose 32.6 points, or 0.48 percent, to 6,878.11 at the open. The Nasdaq Composite also climbed 239.5 points, or 1.03 percent, to open at 23,481.493.
