US to Withdraw 5,000 Troops from Germany Amid NATO Realignment

Doha: The Pentagon announced today that the United States will withdraw 5,000 troops from its forces stationed in Germany as part of NATO.

According to Qatar News Agency, United States Assistant to the Secretary of War for Public Affairs Sean Parnell stated that the withdrawal would be complete within six to twelve months. This decision comes amidst ongoing discussions and strategic realignments within NATO.

Earlier this week, President Trump had threatened to reduce the number of US troops in Europe. This followed an exchange with the Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, who commented on Monday about the perception that Iranians were humiliating the United States in talks aimed at ending the two-month-long war.
