Verses Across Borders – EU Poetry Exhibition Kicks Off at Katara


Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) inaugurated Wednesday the EU Poetry Exhibition, titled “Verses Across Borders.” The exhibition was held in cooperation with the European Union (EU) Delegation to the State of Qatar and the embassies of EU member states.



According to Qatar News Agency, the event was attended by HE Ambassador of the EU to the State of Qatar Dr. Cristian Tudor, a number of ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the State of Qatar, and an audience of literature and culture enthusiasts.



The exhibition, which runs until November 4, embodies the spirit of shared human creativity and the role of poetry in building bridges between cultures and revitalizing dialogue and understanding between peoples.



Director General of Katara Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti stated that poetry is one of the most sublime forms of human expression, combining thought, emotion, and beauty. It also intersects with cultures and converges experiences. He noted that organizing the EU Poetry Exhibition at Katara embodies this profound human meaning and affirms that creativity can unite peoples and that beautiful words can transcend geographical and linguistic boundaries.



Al Sulaiti added that through this event, Katara continues its role as a global cultural beacon, striving to promote understanding and rapprochement between cultures, affirming that art and literature are the truest language of communication between nations.



For his part, HE Ambassador of the EU to the State of Qatar Dr. Cristian Tudor expressed his pride in partnering with Katara, emphasizing that this exhibition represents a tribute to the poetic voices that shape cultures and connect peoples across borders.



The “Verses Across Borders” exhibition features a selection of poetry from 11 EU countries, presented in their original languages alongside Arabic and English translations, in a creative visual design that combines art and words.
