WFP Warns of Imminent Famine Threat in Gaza

Gaza: The World Food Programme (WFP) on Sunday warned that families in the Gaza Strip are still on the cusp of famine. It stressed the importance of ensuring the daily flow of aid trucks to the embattled enclave.

According to Qatar News Agency, WFP added that the Strip has been reeling from a catastrophic humanitarian and relief crisis since the shuttering of crossings by the Israeli occupation forces, stressing that there is an essential need to transport and distribute food inside the Strip safely without any delay.

The Israeli occupation forces pursue a systematic starvation policy against approximately 2.4 million Palestinians in the enclave, by sealing off crossings to humanitarian aid that has been stockpiling at the border since March 2, effectively plunging the Strip into a state of famine.
