Gaza: The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for allowing the entry of medicines and essential medical supplies into the besieged Gaza Strip without delay, to enable the large-scale rebuilding of health services. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus emphasized the urgency of addressing the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza under an Israeli blockade.
According to Qatar News Agency, Ghebreyesus stated on the platform X that the WHO has supported the establishment of a new family health center in northern Gaza. This center aims to deliver healthcare directly to people in an area where health services remain extremely limited and inaccessible to many residents.
He highlighted that the health needs across Gaza are very high, and stressed the importance of immediate entry of medicines and essential supplies to facilitate the broad-scale rebuilding of health services. Furthermore, Ghebreyesus called for the removal of bureaucratic obstacles on essential medicines and the lifting of restrictions on access to Gaza.
