WHO Director-General: Upholding Gaza Ceasefire is Essential


Gaza: Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stressed the need to maintain the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.



According to Qatar News Agency, next week, WHO, UNICEF, and UNRWA will begin providing routine vaccinations, nutrition screening and treatment, and growth monitoring for 44,000 children across Gaza, who have been cut off from life-saving care for nearly two years of conflict. The WHO Director-General highlighted these efforts on X, emphasizing the critical nature of these health interventions.



To support this effort, WHO is rehabilitating 20 damaged or destroyed health facilities, expanding the number of service delivery points, and restoring vital health infrastructure. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus emphasized that upholding the ceasefire is essential not only for the success of these efforts but also for bringing Gaza’s health system back to life, underscoring that the best medicine is peace.
