Winter Camping Season in Qatar Set to Begin October 25

Doha:According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has announced that the winter camping season for 2026-2027 will commence on October 25 and run through April 20. Registration will be available on the ministry's website and the Bee'ah application, starting October 11.

Registration is divided into three phases based on the camping areas' geographical distribution. The first phase covers the central region from October 11-13, the southern region from October 14-16, and the northern region from October 17-21. A general registration period for all areas will then be available from October 22-31.

Hamad Salem Al Nuaimi, Director of the Wildlife Protection Department and Head of the Winter Camping Committee, explained that the registration phases aim to manage demand and streamline the booking process. The first phase includes inland and coastal areas, while the second phase focuses on the Sealine area and southern region sites. The third phase will cover various inland and coastal camping areas, including nature reserves.

New regulations for the season include a ban on motorcycle use in green arable land areas and all camping sites between 10 pm and 5 am, intended to protect wildlife and preserve natural features. The ministry will enhance field team presence and utilize modern monitoring technologies throughout the season.

Dr. Farhoud Hadi Al Hajri, Director of Public Relations and Communications, emphasized the cultural significance of the camping season in Qatar. The ministry plans to implement awareness programs promoting environmental practices and waste management, using direct engagement and digital content to reach campers.

Last season saw significant participation with 2,991 camps registered. The ministry aims to build on this by upgrading the registration system and technical infrastructure to improve efficiency. Campers must ensure their National Authentication System accounts are active and their details current to access the camping system.

The ministry has updated the exemption categories for fee payments and added illustrative images of camping areas to aid in the registration process. Payments for permits and security deposits must be made immediately to avoid cancellation.
