Eriksen eyes comeback from cardiac arrest, targets World Cup

Copenhagen, Christian Eriksen is targeting a comeback from his cardiac arrest to play for Denmark in the World Cup in November, said AP.

The 29-year-old Eriksen has not played since collapsing during Denmark’s opening match at the European Championship against Finland in June.

Unable to play in Italy due to being fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, the playmaker’s contract with Inter Milan was terminated by mutual agreement last month.

“My goal is to play in the World Cup in Qatar,” Eriksen he told Danish broadcaster DR1 in an interviewed aired Tuesday. “That has been my mindset all along.”

Eriksen, who won the Serie A title last season, has resumed some training in recent weeks but is without a club.

Qatar’s Ambassador to Beijing Honors Chinese Winners of Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the People’s Republic of China Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Dehaimi hosted a ceremony honoring Ge Tieying, Wang Fu and Li Zhenzhong for winning the 2021 Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding in the translation from Arabic to Chinese category.

Several heads and representatives of Arab diplomatic missions accredited to the People’s Republic of China attended the honoring ceremony.

The award winners commended the role of HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and all those in charge of the award, expressing their pride in winning the award, which they considered a major reason for bringing civilizations closer together, building bridges of communication between nations and peoples, and enhancing cultural cooperation between Arab countries and China.

They also considered the honor a very important gesture in their path and an incentive to do more in the translation field, stressing that their work was stemmed from their aspiration and love for the Arabic language and civilization and their passion for translation.

In a speech on this occasion, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the People’s Republic of China Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Dehaimi said that the current civilized dialogue between the friendly Arab and Chinese nations in which the honorable professors, who are honored, played a vital role in introducing Arab civilization, culture and literature to the Chinese people by presenting many significant works, which spanned over 30 years, including Al Bukhala by Al Jahiz, Tawq Al Hamam by Raja Alim and Muqaddimah by Ibn Khaldun.

HE the Ambassador called on young Chinese translators to continue their venerable mission and crucial role as pillars of civilized dialogue between Arabs and China.

Ge Tieying won first place in the Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding for translating “Al Bukhala by Al Jahiz” book from Arabic into Chinese. Wang Fu won second place in the same category for translating “Tawq Al Hamam by Raja Alim” book. Li Zhenzhong won the achievement award for Bayt Al Hikmah Group.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid meets with Yemeni PM at Expo 2020 Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, today met with Yemen’s Prime Minister Dr. Moeen Abdul-Malik at the country’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, was also present at the meeting.

The two leaders discussed the prospects of enhancing cooperation between the two countries and reviewed the humanitarian situation in Yemen and regional and global developments.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid stressed the UAE’s continued support for the people of Yemen in ensuring their security and stability.

The Yemeni Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the UAE’s efforts to support other nations in enhancing sustainable development by sharing knowledge and expertise in key sectors. He also congratulated the UAE and Dubai on the successful hosting of Expo 2020 Dubai.

The two leaders also toured the Yemeni Pavilion, where they were briefed about its exhibits that illustrate the ingenuity of one of the world’s oldest civilisations and how the country is combining ancient and modern knowledge to drive future progress.

Located within the Sustainability District, the Yemeni Pavilion showcases the Miraculous Book of Al Wisabi, an original handwritten Yemeni manuscript featuring knowledge in six fields: jurisprudence, presentations, grammar, morphology, logic and intonation.

The meeting was also attended by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, and Chairman of the Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee; H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; and several dignitaries and senior officials.
