Jordanian Prime Minister receives EBRD President

Jordanian Prime Minister, Dr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh, met today with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud Basso, who is currently visiting Jordan.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the partnership relations between Jordan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

They also highlighted the projects and investments that the bank intends to implement in Jordan, especially in the fields of energy, water, clean energy and the green economy.

Industry and Commerce Minister attends roundtable held by AMCHAM and Bahrain Embassy in the USA

Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro participated in the virtual roundtable organized by the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) in cooperation with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the United States of America.

During the meeting, the American Business Council was briefed on the latest efforts of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to enhance trade cooperation with the US and create more convergence between the Bahraini business community and the American business community to achieve bilateral goals.

The meeting focused on a number of topics, most importantly the launch of the manual of the FTA between Bahrain and the US, in addition to issues related to trade relations and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Foreign Ministry summons Iraqi Charge d’Affaires

The Foreign Affairs Ministry summoned the Chargé d’Affaires of the embassy of Iraq to Bahrain Muayyad Omar Abdul Rahman and informed him of its regret and dissatisfaction with the repeated violations of diplomatic norms.

The Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani informed the Iraqi Chargé d’Affairs of the ministry’s condemnation of his recent behavior that does not comply with diplomatic protocols and his diplomatic duties as Chargé d’Affaires of the embassy of Iraq in Bahrain.

He Stressed that it is an unacceptable interference in the internal affairs of Bahrain and contradicts the principles governing relations between states as per the Charter of the United Nations.

The minister handed the Iraqi Chargé d’Affairs an official letter of protest.

HRH the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister hosts a Ramadan iftar banquet for BDF senior officers

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister, along with His Highness Lieutenant Commander Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and His Highness Major Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, today hosted a Ramadan iftar banquet for a number of Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) senior officers.

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was received by the Commander-in-Chief of the BDF, HE Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Minister of Defence, HE Lieutenant General Abdullah bin Hassan Al Nuaimi, the BDF Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Theyab bin Saqr Al-Nuaimi, and other senior BDF officers.

During the banquet, His Royal Highness highlighted the unwavering support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander, to the BDF, noting the BDF’s efficiency and advanced capabilities, which continues to safeguard the Kingdom’s security and sovereignty.

HRH the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister commended the BDF’s vital role in supporting the Kingdom’s ongoing development, and its active contribution, alongside allied forces, to upholding regional security and stability.

On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, His Royal Highness exchanged best wishes with the BDF Commander in Chief and senior BDF officers and wished the Kingdom, the Arab World, and Islamic nations security and prosperity.

The National Security Advisor and Commander of the Royal Guard, HH Major General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and a number of senior officials also attended the banquet.

Bahrain ambassador to Brussels meets senior EU VP of Green Deal advisor

Bahrain’s Ambassador to Belgium Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri met Anthony Agotha, Senior Diplomatic Advisor to the European Commission Vice President of the European Green Deal.

During the meeting the ambassador gave an overview of Bahrain’s efforts to confront climate change, affirming Bahrain’s commitment to bring carbon emissions to net zero by 2060 and reducing emissions by 30% by 2035.

He affirmed the commitment of the Bahraini government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister in presenting initiatives and legislation aimed at preserving the environment and combating climate change.

Al Doseri highlighted Bahrain’s readiness to cooperate with the EU to achieve climate goals.

The ambassador reviewed Bahrain’s successful efforts in economic diversification, reducing dependence on the oil sector, and encouraging investment in modern technology in renewable and clean energy.

Agotha praised Bahrain’s efforts in the usage of clean energy, and expressed the EU’s interest in cooperation with Bahrain and the exchange of expertise in areas related to climate change, clean energy and the environment.

Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah Governor receives Bahraini Ambassador to Saudi Arabia

Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah Governor Prince Faisal bin Salman Al Saud received Bahraini Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Shaikh Ali bin Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Khalifa.

Prince Faisal wished the ambassador success in performing his diplomatic duties, in a way that contributes to strengthening the close historical relations between the two kingdoms.

The ambassador thanked Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah governor for his hospitality. He commended the outcome of the ongoing cooperation between the two kingdoms in various sectors.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister visits the majlises of the Al Asfoor family, Faisal Jawad, and the Al Zayani family

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today visited the majlis of the Al Asfoor family, the majlis of Faisal Hassan Jawad, and the majlis of the Al Zayani Family.

His Royal Highness highlighted Team Bahrain’s ambitious efforts in turning global challenges into achievements across various sectors, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister exchanged Ramadan blessings with the hosts and guests of the majlises.

His Royal Highness noted the importance of Ramadan majlises in further bolstering societal bonds over generations amongst Bahraini families and residents.

HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad went on to note that the positive economic indicators that have been witnessed recently reflect Bahraini citizens’ determination to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Economic Recovery Plan, aimed at enhancing the Kingdom’s long-term economic sustainability to benefit citizens.

His Royal Highness further highlighted that the positive economic indicators were also achieved through the constructive cooperation between the public and private sectors, forming an economy that delivers to Bahraini citizens. In this regard, His Royal Highness stressed the importance of further strengthening public-private partnerships for the Kingdom’s competitiveness and investment attraction.

In light of the technological advancements witnessed across the Kingdom, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad emphasised the role of artificial intelligence in improving the efficiency and delivery of quality jobs and services to citizens across various economic sectors.

For their part, the majlis hosts and guests expressed their gratitude to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for the visit. They concluded by celebrating His Royal Highness’s noble engagement with Bahrainis in their Ramadan majlises across the Kingdom and wished the Kingdom continued progress and prosperity under the leadership of His Majesty the King.

5.5 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Indonesia’s North Sulawesi

An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck on Tuesday the province of North Sulawesi in Indonesia, without causing a tsunami.

According to a statement from the Indonesia Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, the epicenter of the quake occurred 98 km from the Bolaang Mongondow regency of the province, at a depth of 53 km.

So far, there have been no reports of material or human losses due to the earthquake.

On March 2, a 5-magnitude earthquake struck south of the Indonesian island of Sumatra, at a depth of about 100 km below the surface of the earth.

Earthquakes regularly strike different parts of Indonesia, as it is located on the Pacific belt known as the “Ring of Fire,” where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.

Iraqi Foreign Ministry: Iraqi Chargé d’Affaires in Bahrain to return to Baghdad

Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations Affairs, Fuad Hussein, has directed to return the Iraqi Chargé d’Affaires in Bahrain to Baghdad, Spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, announced today.

“The Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein has directed to return the Iraqi Chargé d’Affaires to the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad,” Al-Sahhaf told Iraqi News Agency (INA).

“This measure aims to enhance the status of Iraqi diplomacy, which the Ministry adopts to preserve diplomatic norms,” he added.

It is to be noted that Bahrain’s Foreign Affairs Ministry today summoned the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Moayad Omar Abdulrahman, and informed him of its “deep dissatisfaction with his repeated violations of diplomatic norms.”
