The National Initiative calls for stopping the occupation and deterring it from its crimes and brutality in Gaza

Ramallah- Ma’an- The Palestinian National Initiative Movement said that the remains and blood of children, elderly people and women in the massacre of the Tabeen School in the Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City refute the lies of the occupation army that deliberately bombed it, killing more than 100 displaced people and wounding dozens as well.

The initiative added, “In light of these bloody massacres, the Palestinian National Initiative Movement calls for halting the racist occupation and deterring it from its crimes and brutality that exceeded all imaginations, and insisting on prosecuting the criminal killers.”

The Palestinian National Initiative Movement stressed that any pressure exerted to cease fire in Gaza must be directed towards the fascist occupation government to stop its brutal war and barbaric aggression, not towards our people who are being subjected to killing, displacement and systematic destruction.

Washington refrains from imposing sanctions on the occupation’s killing of a “Palestinian-American”

Washington – Ma’an – The US State Department announced on Friday that it will not impose sanctions on the “Netzah Yehuda” Battalion in the Israeli army, which was involved in the killing of the elderly Palestinian, Omar Asaad, who holds American citizenship in addition to his Palestinian citizenship.

She justified this by saying that “Israel had already taken the necessary measures.”

It is noteworthy that the elderly man Asaad was martyred on January 12, 2022, after being detained and assaulted by an occupation army force, in an abandoned house in the village of Jaljalia, north of the city of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

An Israeli force had detained him, after assaulting him by beating him, tying his hands, and blindfolding him, and leaving him bleeding in the bitter cold, which led to his martyrdom later at that time.

At the time, the military prosecution decided to close the investigation file with the Israeli soldiers involved in committing the crime of abuse without indicting any of them.

An
earlier statement issued by the occupation army stated that “the investigation shows that the incident was serious and unfortunate,” adding that “the incident indicated a moral failure on the part of the (involved) force, an error in assessing the situation, and a serious violation of the value of human dignity.”

The US administration is backing down

At the end of last April, Israeli sources estimated that the US administration would ‘reverse its decision’ to impose sanctions on the Netzah Yehuda Battalion following ‘widespread anger and opposition from all parties’ in Israel.

Reports at the time indicated that ‘the Israeli army fears that the American move will lead to serious retaliatory responses against other units as well.’ Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Galant, President Isaac Herzog, and War Cabinet member Benny Gantz (who later resigned from the cabinet), expressed their support for the Netzah Yehuda Battalion and described its actions as in li
ne with the ‘values ??and ethics’ of the Israeli army.

“Necessary steps have been taken.”

The US State Department said in its statement, yesterday, Friday, that its decision not to impose sanctions on this battalion came “after receiving information from the Israeli government.”

“After a thorough review of this information, we have concluded that appropriate steps have been taken to correct the violations committed by this battalion,” State Department deputy spokesman Vedant Patel said.

“This battalion can continue to benefit from security support from the United States,” he added.

ssion on the Gaza Strip by land, sea and air since October 7, 2023, which resulted in the martyrdom of 39,790 citizens and the injury of 91,702 others, while thousands of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, and ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them.

Civil Defense in Gaza: Three Israeli missiles bombed a prayer hall in a school for displaced people

Gaza – Ma’an – The spokesman for the Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip, Mahmoud Basal, said on Saturday that the Israeli occupation has targeted 13 centers for sheltering displaced people throughout the Strip since the beginning of August.

This came in a press conference held by Basal in Gaza City, hours after the Israeli army bombed displaced people in the Al-Tabi’in School in the center of the city with three missiles.

Basal stated that “the Israeli occupation targeted two floors of the Al-Tabi’een School, the first of which was housing displaced women and children, and the ground floor, which was a prayer hall for the displaced.”

He added: “Al-Tabi’in School is sheltering more than 6,000 displaced people who went there after the Israeli occupation forces destroyed their homes in more than one area in the Gaza Strip.”

He stated that “everyone was shocked by the scale of the great and terrifying massacre, due to the large number of martyrs and wounded, including children and women, some of whom were in pie
ces and others were set on fire in a terrifying scene that did not take into account the slightest humanitarian considerations.”

The Civil Defense spokesman indicated that “among the martyrs of the massacre were 11 children and 6 women, in addition to dozens of serious injuries.”

He added, “Many of the remains have not been identified, and there are still missing people whose fate is unknown, after their families were informed that they were inside the school’s prayer hall.”

He added: “What tears our hearts apart is that the martyrs have become mere numbers that are mentioned as if they are nothing, without the international community paying attention to the crimes committed against defenceless citizens and without directing any direct condemnations to this occupation, which has made it persist in targeting more shelters and schools.”

In turn, Dr. Muhammad Al-Mughair, Director of the Supply Department of the Civil Defense Authority, said: Al-Tabi’in School was targeted by three missiles, including at leas
t one Mk-84 missile, which weighs 200 pounds.

In turn, the Israeli occupation army claimed that the site it bombed near the “Al-Tabi’in” school was used by senior Hamas leaders, claiming that “about 20 Hamas and Jihad members were in the Al-Tabi’in school.”

UN: 60,000 Gazans displaced after latest evacuation order

New York – Ma’an – The United Nations said that at least 60,000 Palestinians may have fled to the western areas of the Gaza Strip, after the latest evacuation decision announced by the Israeli army a few days ago.

Florencia Soto, from the Office of the Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, briefed journalists at a press conference on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, according to Anadolu Agency.

She added: “It is estimated that more than 80% of the Gaza Strip has been subject to Israeli evacuation orders since October of last year.”

On Thursday, the occupation army demanded that residents of new neighborhoods in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, forcibly evacuate them, in preparation for launching a new attack on them, four days after launching a devastating attack on areas it previously claimed were “safe” east of the city, which left 255 martyrs and widespread destruction.

According to Soto, the amount of aid that can be delivered to Gaza has been cut by more than half since the beginning of M
ay, after the Rafah border crossing was closed.

She pointed out that an average of 169 trucks transported aid to Gaza daily last April, while their number decreased to less than 80 trucks in June and July 2024.

The UN official confirmed that Israel continues to reject and obstruct humanitarian aid convoys to Gaza.
