Doha:A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck the island of New Caledonia in the southwestern Pacific Ocean.
According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.
New Caledonia is located on the Ring of Fire in the Pacific Ocean, an area known for intense seismic and volcanic activity due to the movement and friction of tectonic plates.
