Doha: A 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck Wednesday south of the Kermadec Islands off the coast of New Zealand: A 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck Wednesday south of the Kermadec Islands off the coast of New Zealand.



According to Qatar News Agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 27 kilometers, 456 kilometers northeast of Hicks Bay, New Zealand.



There have been no reports of casualties or damage from the earthquake so far, and no tsunami warnings have been issued.



It is worth noting that the Kermadec Islands are located about 1,000 kilometers northeast of New Zealand’s North Island and are frequently subject to strong earthquakes.
