London: Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari participated in a panel discussion titled "The New Geopolitics of the Middle East" on the sidelines of the annual London Conference organized by Chatham House.
According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Al Ansari stated that the region was not experiencing a temporary crisis but rather a continuation of successive cycles of escalation. He emphasized that the Middle East was undergoing an unprecedented period of instability affecting most of its countries, necessitating comprehensive diplomatic solutions rather than merely managing recurring crises.
He pointed out that, despite being directly affected by the regional conflict, the State of Qatar remains committed to its role as a mediator. He stressed that military solutions cannot achieve lasting stability and that diplomacy is the only viable path to resolving conflicts and ensuring regional peace and stability.
Dr. Al Ansari further highlighted that continued escalation would not benefit any party, emphasizing that all countries in the region would bear the costs of conflict, both in terms of security and the economy. He elaborated on its impact on energy security, supply chains, and international trade.
He concluded by stressing the importance of reviving the diplomatic process and creating conditions for sustainable political settlements, promoting economic integration, and rebuilding trust among the region's countries. Lasting stability in the Middle East, he asserted, requires respect for state sovereignty, stronger collective action, and reaffirming diplomacy as the most effective means of resolving crises and building a more stable future for the region.
