Khartoum: The African Union Peace and Security Council has issued a strong condemnation of the Sudan Founding Alliance's move to establish a parallel government in Sudan. The alliance, which is led by the Rapid Support Forces, has been criticized for attempting to fragment the nation.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Council emphasized its commitment to Sudan's sovereignty and territorial integrity. It called upon all African Union member states and the international community to refrain from recognizing or supporting the proposed parallel government.
The African Union has reiterated its acknowledgment of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and the newly formed transitional civilian government as the legitimate governing bodies in Sudan. It has urged for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, advocating a return to negotiations and the initiation of an inclusive national dialogue.
