Doha: Qatari newspaper Al-Raya affirmed that Qatar's hosting of the Second World Summit for Social Development this month from November 4 to 6 reaffirms its position as an active platform for global dialogue and a trusted strategic partner of the United Nations (UN).
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya stated in an editorial titled 'Qatar and the UN: An Effective Strategic Partnership' that convening this important international event in Doha is an extension of a long history of cooperation between Qatar and the UN. It also embodies Qatar's firm commitment to supporting multilateral action and strengthening international efforts to achieve sustainable social development and establish global peace.
The newspaper considered Doha's hosting of the summit as further confirmation that Qatar is not merely a venue for international events but an active partner contributing to shaping global solutions. It also reflects the international community's confidence in Qatar's ability to bring parties together under one umbrella for a more secure and developed world.
The daily added that Qatar stands today as a vibrant hub for multilateral diplomacy, hosting UN conferences on development, finance, anti-corruption, human rights, and other issues critical to humanity's future. This role has positioned the country as a trusted destination and an ideal setting for constructive dialogue, driven by its balanced policies and humanitarian initiatives that reach far beyond its geographical borders.
Al-Raya emphasized that this hosting is a new milestone added to Qatar's distinguished record of supporting the UN and promoting international cooperation towards a prosperous future for all. It noted that Qatar places great importance on global development issues in its foreign policy and has made them a central pillar of its National Vision 2030, which seeks to achieve a balance between economic progress and social justice.
Based on this approach, Qatar has intensified its cooperation with various UN agencies through joint programs and financial and humanitarian contributions in dozens of countries to support education, health, and the empowerment of vulnerable communities, it added.
Thanks to its balanced foreign policy and humanitarian initiatives, Qatar has become a model for a country that employs its diplomacy in the service of major international issues, Al-Raya stressed. Over the past years, Doha has hosted a number of international meetings and summits that discussed critical issues such as development, education, health, combating poverty and extremism, empowering youth, and protecting human rights. Through these meetings, Qatar has become an open participatory platform for the entire world, where consensus is built and initiatives are launched that contribute to shaping a more sustainable and just future, it said.
