Alcaraz Reaches Australian Open Semi-finals for First Time

Canberra: World number one Carlos Alcaraz has reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open for the first time in his career after a straight-sets victory over Australia's Alex de Minaur in Canberra. The 22-year-old Spaniard defeated the sixth seed 7-5, 6-2, 6-1 to extend his unbeaten run in the tournament, having yet to drop a set. Alcaraz is now one win away from his maiden Australian Open final as he continues his pursuit of a seventh Grand Slam title.

According to Qatar News Agency, Alcaraz will face Germany's Alexander Zverev, the world number three, who advanced to the semi-finals after beating American learner Tien 6-3, 6-7, 6-1, 7-6. In the women's draw, American third seed Coco Gauff was knocked out of the tournament following a 6-1, 6-2 defeat to Ukraine's Elina Svitolina in a match lasting just 59 minutes. Svitolina will meet world number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus in the semi-finals. Sabalenka progressed after a dominant 6-3, 6-0 win over American Eva Jovic.
