Amir of Qatar Congratulates Algerian President on Independence Day

Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani sent a cable of congratulations to HE President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on the occasion of Algeria’s Independence Day.

According to Qatar News Agency, Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced the resumption of direct flights between the Turkish capital, Ankara, and the Syrian capital, Damascus. In a post on platform X, Uraloglu stated that a new bridge has been constructed between Ankara and Damascus as a symbol of the friendship between Turkiye and Syria. He mentioned that the inaugural flight has already departed from Ankara’s Esenboga Airport to Damascus International Airport, with direct flights scheduled to operate three times a week.

Flights to and from Damascus were largely suspended by most airlines in 2012 due to the Syrian regime’s response to protests that began in 2011. On January 7, several airlines resumed their operations to Damascus following the Syrian Civil Aviation and Air Transport Authority’s announcement of the reopening of Damascus International Airport for international flights.
