Antiquities Association Continues Its Role to Enhance in the Archaeology Sector

The Antiquities Association, a non-profit cultural organization, is committed to enhancing its role in Saudi Arabia's archaeology sector, in line with its vision and mission. Led by Dr. Saad Al-Rashid, the association's Board of Directors, which includes prominent figures in the field, has adopted a range of high-quality activities, programs, and initiatives to achieve these goals. Dr. Al-Rashid stated that the association aims to support active entities in the archaeology sector and enhance their role by providing valuable opportunities for cooperation and communication among practitioners, while also attending to their interests. He noted, "The association forms a professional group for specialists in the field of archaeology in the Kingdom. It works to enhance best practices for the sector and contributes to the development of policies and legislation that preserve and highlight the Kingdom's unique and rich cultural identity. Additionally, it raises awareness of the importance of the archaeology sector". The association seeks to emphasize the significance of antiquities as a crucial part of civilization, culture, and as a substantial resource for development, while also reinforcing the national cultural identity. According to its vision, the association aims to "develop the archaeology sector and excel in disseminating knowledge about the ancient heritage of the Kingdom, both locally and globally." Its mission involves enhancing the archaeology sector by contributing to archaeological research, providing knowledge and expertise to practitioners, utilizing scientific and professional capabilities, and supporting opportunities to promote archaeological treasures on a global scale. The association's strategy focuses on six primary goals: developing practice standards in the archaeology sector, influencing legislation and policies that reflect the interests of the sector, improving the future of professionals by providing education, training, and networking opportunities, creating awareness campaigns and events to highlight the importance of the cultural sector, expanding the association's membership base and joining international associations, and recognizing talents within the sector by offering certificates, awards, and necessary support. The association's work is organized into four main areas: enhancing the archaeology sector through best practices, research, and international networking; supporting professionals by providing resources for career advancement and job opportunities; influencing legislation to benefit the sector and its professionals; and raising public awareness about the cultural sector, empowering archaeology professionals to make a positive societal impact. The Board of Directors has approved an executive plan that includes strategic programs and projects for the coming period. These initiatives include creating a database of professionals in the archaeology sector, facilitating the issuance of licenses, joining international organizations, establishing a digital library, offering profession al academic training, producing a guidance manual, organizing regional seminars on antiquities, and publishing a quarterly archaeological journal. The association will also participate in the AlUla World Archaeology Summit and organize meetings to foster the exchange of knowledge and culture among sector professionals. As a non-profit cultural organization, the Antiquities Association aims to contribute to the development of the archaeology sector through its initiatives and strategic projects. It also supports the Kingdom's Vision 2030 goals in cultural, artistic, and social aspects.
