Apple Empowers Developers with AI Integration Capabilities

Cupertino: Apple is set to make a significant announcement at its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference on June 9, unveiling a new move in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI). The tech giant will allow third-party developers to leverage its AI models for the development of their applications.

According to Qatar News Agency, Apple is working on a new software toolkit that will enable external developers to create features using the large language models that have been instrumental in the iPhone's development process. This initiative centers around Apple Intelligence, an AI system launched by the company in 2024, which incorporates a range of smart capabilities like email rewriting, notification summarization, and photo editing to enhance user experience.

The integration of Apple's AI technologies into third-party apps signifies a considerable expansion in the use of these technologies. Developers will have the flexibility to incorporate these AI technologies in specific components or throughout entire applications.

In a move that pushes the boundaries of AI accessibility, Apple plans to make its smaller AI models available for direct operation on user devices, moving away from an exclusive dependence on advanced AI models that run on cloud servers. This development marks a milestone for developers who, until now, have only been able to integrate Apple's AI technology into their apps without the ability to use Apple's AI models to build and run proprietary AI features.
