AlUla, The Arab Cup for Camel Championship’s first edition will begin tomorrow, with the participation of 16 Arab countries. The championship will be held on the AlUla Camel Field in partnership with the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate. The total value of the financial and in-kind prizes awarded will exceed SAR3 million.

The championship is open to camel owners who are citizens of Arab countries and whose camels are registered in the member federations of the Arab Camel Union.

Participating in the championship include the Bahraini Popular Heritage Sport Committee, the UAE Camel Federation, the Kuwaiti Camel Racing Club, the Omani Camel Racing Federation, the Sudanese Camel Federation, the Jordanian Committee for Camel Sport, the Egyptian Camel Federation, the Somali Camel Federation, the Djibouti Camel Federation, the Association Sportive Des Courses De Dromadaire in Tunisia, the Algerian Société des Courses Hippique et du Pari Mutuel, the General Camel Racing Federation in Morocco, the Iraqi Camel F
ederation, the Lebanese Federation for Heritage and Traditional Sports, and the Yemeni Federation for Equestrian and Camel Racing.

The championship will feature 13 rounds, with a total distance of 72 km. The camels will participate in races of distances ranging from 2 to 8 km, and the owners will compete for 13 cups. Three rounds will be within the Haggana race, with two rounds for men and one round for women. The Haggana race’s total distance is 10 km. There will also be ten races for the public with robotic jockeys, with a maximum of ten camels per race for each member federation. Each owner can participate in each race with a maximum of three camels.

The Arab Camel Federation has explained that each member federation has the right to participate in the robotic jockeys’ races. Each federation can participate with a maximum of ten camels in each race. Additionally, each federation can participate in the camel race, with three participants in each race.
