Doha: The second Balsan Championship is set to kick off on Wednesday as part of the 11th Senyar Festival 2025. Organized by the Cultural Village Foundation - Katara, the two-day event draws 21 teams from the elite round of the festival, featuring top-performing teams from the Al Haddaq and Al Laffah competitions, as well as the winner of the "Biggest Fish" contest.
According to Qatar News Agency, the traditional dhows participating in the competition set sail on Tuesday from Katara South Beach, heading toward Halul Island, located approximately 90 kilometers east of Doha, marking the commencement of the Balsan Championship competitions scheduled to begin Wednesday morning.
The championship will conclude with the grand Al Qaffal ceremony at Katara South Beach next Friday.
