HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister congratulates the President and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tunisia

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today sent a congratulatory cable to the President of the Republic of Tunisia, HE Kais Saied, on the occasion of his country’s Republic Day.

His Royal Highness sent a similar cable to the Prime Minister of Tunisia, HE Hichem Mechichi.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets US Senator

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met today with HE Senator Chris Murphy, a member of the US Senate.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral cooperation relations, investment and trade prospects between the State of Qatar and the state of Connecticut, in addition to developments in the region.

The US senator stressed, during the meeting, the strength of strategic relations between the two countries, and thanked the State of Qatar for allocating $100 million in support of the efforts of the United Nations World Food Program in Yemen to support food security and stave off famine in Yemen and to assist UN relief and urgent humanitarian programs to prevent further deterioration of tragic conditions there.

The meeting was attended by a number of heads and representatives of major companies in the state of Connecticut.

HM King condoles with German President, Chancellor

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today sent a cable of condolences to the German President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, over the victims of the strong storms and floods that swept the states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate due to heavy rains, resulting in several casualties, injuries and missing persons.

HM the King offered sincere condolences and consolation to the German President and people, as well as to the victims’ families, wishing the dead forgiveness and the wounded a speedy recovery.

HM King Hamad sent a similar cable to the German Chancellor, Dr. Angela Merkel.

Ambassador to Brussels meets Group of Friends of Bahrain in European Parliament Chairman

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Brussels, accredited to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Kingdom of Denmark and Representative to the European Union and NATO, Dr. Bahia Jawad Al-Jishi, met Tomáš Zdechovský, Member of the European Parliament and Chairman of the Group of Friends of Bahrain in the European Parliament, and a number of members.

During the meeting, Dr. Bahia Al-Jishi reviewed the progress of the Group of Friends of Bahrain since its launch in its second edition in December 2019, expressing her happiness for the efforts made by the members of the Group of Friends of Bahrain in building bridges of cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the member states of the European Parliament.

Tomáš Zdechovský, praised the success achieved by the Kingdom of Bahrain in confronting the COVID-19 in a way that preserves the health and safety of everyone, stressing the group’s desire to visit the Kingdom of Bahrain later this year.

MoFAIC holds farewell ceremony for Luxembourg, Sweden ambassadors

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), today morning held a farewell party for Elisabeth Cardoso, Ambassador of Luxembourg to the UAE, and Henrik Landerholm, Ambassador of Sweden to the UAE, on the occasion of the end of their tenure in the country.

During the ceremony, which was held at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, Alya Mohamed Almehrezi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Protocols Affairs Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, highlighted the depth of the existing bilateral relations between the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Kingdom of Sweden.

She also praised the efforts of both ambassadors during their work in the country and contributed to strengthening the relations between their two countries and the UAE in various fields.

Cardoso, in turn, thanked the UAE foreign ministry and all officials in the country for the support and cooperation she received, which contributed to facilitating her work, wishing the UAE further progress and prosperity.

Henrik also expressed his appreciation to the officials of the ministry and the cooperation he received to facilitate his work, which had a great impact in consolidating the ties between the two countries.

At the end of the ceremony, Almehrezi presented the two ambassadors with a souvenir, wishing them all success in their upcoming work.

The ceremony was also attended by members of the Arab and foreign diplomatic corps accredited to the country, as well as several officials from the ministry.

Emirati delegation discusses enhancing cooperation with Estonian officials

A delegation from the UAE, led by Abdulnasser Al Shaali, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has visited the Republic of Estonia to explore bilateral trade, investment, and economic opportunities.

The delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Ministry of Education, Chambers of Commerce and Industry, UAE Space Agency, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), and the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

During the three-day visit, Al Shaali underlined the UAE’s aspiration to further build upon its positive relations with Estonia.

“Estonia is an important and rapidly emerging trading partner for the UAE in Europe. We are confident this visit has provided a constructive platform for the further development of our ties with the Estonian public and private sectors. It is clear that significant complementarities exist between the UAE and Estonia across several cutting-edge sectors, which we should seek to leverage to the mutual benefit of both our countries,” he noted.

The UAE delegation convened meetings with several Estonian government officials, including Andres Rundu, Under-Secretary of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Jaan Reinhold, Estonian Ambassador to the UAE; Margus Rava, Head of Business Diplomacy at the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ando Leppiman, Secretary-General at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications; and Daniel Erik Schaer, Commissioner-General of the Estonia Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Meetings touched upon the desire of both sides to increase engagement across all areas of the UAE-Estonia trade and economic relations, with a focus on cutting-edge sectors such as artificial intelligence, space, information technologies, as well as sustainable agricultural development.

The two sides also agreed to investigate the establishment of a UAE-Estonia Business Council.

The UAE delegation also participated in the UAE-Estonia Business Seminar and engaged in dialogue with leading Estonian private sector companies, where the substantial investment opportunities that exist in both the UAE and Estonia were highlighted.

The delegation, upon the invitation of the former President of Estonia, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, also participated in the ninth Estonian Friends International Meeting.

President of Georgia Meets Qatar’s Ambassador

Tbilisi -HE President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili met today with HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Georgia Mubarak bin Nasser Al-Khalifa, on the occasion of the end of his tenure.

During the meeting, HE President of Georgia praised the efforts made by HE the Ambassador during his tenure, which contributed to the advancement of relations between the two countries, and wished His Excellency success in the tasks he will be entrusted with.

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Meets Foreign Minister’s Special Envoy

Islamabad-HE Chief of Army Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan General Qamar Javed Bajwa, met with HE the Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Counterterrorism and Mediation in Conflict Resolution Dr. Mutlaq bin Majed Al Qahtani, during his visit to Pakistan.

During the meeting, developments in the region, especially in Afghanistan, were reviewed.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets US Congress Delegation

Doha-HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met Saturday with a congress delegation of the United States of America, headed by the Chairman of House Committee on Foreign Affairs Democratic Representative for New York Gregory Meeks.

During the meeting, they reviewed the friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries, and ways to enhance them in light of regional and international challenges and developments, in addition to exchanging views on the importance of developing the strategic relationship between the two countries, and the common determination to strengthen it in all sectors and vital areas of cooperation.

The meeting also discussed Qatar’s regional role and efforts in the field of mediation and achieving stability in the region.

The meeting dealt with reviewing strategic cooperation relations and the means to enhance them, in addition to exchanging views on a number of issues of joint interest, and discussing the scope for bilateral strategic and economic cooperation.
