Beijing: China’s consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, was up 0.5% year on year in January, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Sunday. The figure marks an increase from the 0.1% rise recorded the previous month, influenced significantly by the Spring Festival holiday, according to NBS statistician Dong Lijuan.
According to Qatar News Agency, the core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, experienced a 0.6% increase compared to the same period last year, rising from a 0.4% increase in December 2024. On a monthly basis, the CPI saw an expansion of 0.7% in January.
