Dollar Strengthens as Euro Faces 17-Month Low

Doha:According to Qatar News Agency, the US dollar continued its rally, propelled by rising US Treasury yields, while the euro remained near a 17-month low due to political uncertainty and fiscal concerns in the euro zone.

The dollar index stood firm at 102.16, following an 18-month high in the previous session. During early Asian trading, the euro slightly decreased to $1.1220, marking its lowest point since May 2025 after extending a 1.2% decline from the previous week.

The euro also saw a drop against the British pound, valued at 84.83 pence after losing more than 1% last week. Overall, the dollar maintained an upward trajectory, supported by US Treasury yields reaching multi-decade highs overnight.

In other currency movements, the dollar inched up against the yen to 157.92, while the British pound slipped by 0.02%, reaching $1.3222. The Australian dollar declined by 0.07% to $0.6967, and the New Zealand dollar followed with a similar 0.07% decrease to $0.5596.
