ECB Cuts Interest Rates to 2.5 Percent

Doha: The European Central Bank (ECB) has decided to cut interest rates by 25 basis points, bringing the interest rate to 2.5 percent. The ECB explained, in a statement Thursday, that interest rates are still hindering growth despite their decline compared to previous levels, noting that the interest rate on deposits at the European Central Bank (ECB) recorded 2.5 percent.

According to Qatar News Agency, the European Central Bank (ECB) cut interest rates 6 times over the past 9 months, and the cuts come amid weak economic growth in the eurozone, with increasing trade threats from the United States.

The European Central Bank (ECB) announced at the end of last January a cut in interest rates by 25 basis points, bringing the main interest rate to 2.75 percent.
