Doha: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides, currently visiting Egypt, have emphasized the necessity of resolving the Palestinian issue through a two-state solution aligned with UN Security Council resolutions, while firmly opposing the displacement of Palestinians.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the meeting, President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt's steadfast position that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is essential for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
President Christodoulides praised Egypt's significant role in promoting regional stability and its proactive measures to combat irregular migration. He expressed a strong interest in continuing coordination and consultations with Egypt to address mutual challenges.
The discussions also encompassed various regional and international developments. President El-Sisi underscored the importance of reducing tensions in the region and restoring peace and stability, highlighting Egypt's ongoing efforts in these areas.
