Egyptian Foreign Minister Engages in Diplomatic Talks to Ease Middle East Tensions

Doha: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, in phone calls with his counterparts from Iran, Oman, and France-Abbas Araghchi, Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi, Jean-Noel Barrot, respectively-as well as US President's Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and International Atomic Energy Agency Director General, Rafael Grossi, discussed ways to de-escalate tensions, achieve calm, and support security and stability in the Middle East.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated that the discussions highlighted the necessity for regional and international collaboration to strengthen the ceasefire between Israel and Iran. The dialogue also emphasized resuming diplomatic negotiations to reach a sustainable resolution concerning the Iranian nuclear program. These efforts aim to address concerns through peaceful means, contributing to the desired calm and reducing regional tensions.

Regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, the Egyptian Foreign Minister consulted with the US President's Special Envoy for the Middle East on developments concerning ceasefire negotiations in Gaza. The talks included discussions on the release of hostages and prisoners, ensuring full access to humanitarian aid for the Strip, and preparations for indirect meetings between involved parties to reach an agreement. Additionally, the conversations covered ongoing preparations for an international conference on the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza, which is contingent upon reaching a ceasefire.
