Egyptian President Calls for Intensified Efforts to Resume Gaza Ceasefire Implementation


Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi underscored the urgent need to intensify efforts to resume the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, facilitate the exchange of hostages and detainees, and ensure the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid to alleviate the catastrophic conditions facing Palestinians in the territory. President El-Sisi’s remarks came during a meeting today with Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, Laszlo Kover, in Cairo.



According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement today, the Egyptian Presidency said President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s ongoing efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza. Discussions also covered bilateral relations, with El-Sisi reaffirming the commitment of both Egypt and Hungary to advancing their strategic partnership across various fields, including parliamentary cooperation, in pursuit of their shared interests.



The Egyptian President also expressed appreciation for Hungary’s support of Egypt within European Union institutions. For his part, Speaker Kover emphasized Hungary’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with Egypt across multiple sectors, recognizing Egypt as a key partner for Hungary and the European Union in the Middle East.



He further highlighted Egypt’s pivotal role in addressing regional challenges that directly affect European security, particularly efforts to restore stability, prevent the escalation of regional conflicts, and combat illegal immigration and terrorism.
