Brussels: The inflation rate in the Eurozone rose to 2.5 percent last month, driven by an increase in energy prices.
According to Qatar News Agency, the European Statistical Office (Eurostat) revealed in a report issued Monday that the core inflation rate, which excludes the most volatile goods such as food and energy, remained stable at 2.7 percent in January. It was noted that the acceleration in overall inflation was driven by an increase in energy prices to 1.9 percent compared to a marginal increase of 0.1 percent in December.
Prices of non-energy industrial goods recorded a stable growth of 0.5 percent, while service price inflation declined to 3.9 percent compared to 4 percent a month ago.
