Doha: Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ambassador Hossam Zaki, emphasized the significance of the decisions made during the Extraordinary Session of the Arab League Council at the Ministerial Level. The session, held virtually, focused on addressing the Iranian assaults on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of several Arab nations.
According to Qatar News Agency, Zaki highlighted that the primary objective of the session was the immediate cessation of Iranian attacks on Arab countries. He noted the challenging situation and mentioned that Arab nations are considering bringing the issue before the UN Security Council for global attention.
Zaki urged the Iranian leadership to cease these assaults, stressing the need for judiciousness and restraint to overcome the crisis. He warned that such attacks could deteriorate relations between Iran and Arab states, violating international law and threatening regional stability.
Ambassador Zaki reiterated the Arab League's condemnation of these actions and recalled efforts by countries like Qatar, Oman, and Egypt to maintain peace despite tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. He expressed regret over the targeting of these nations by Iran, despite their diplomatic efforts to preserve regional security.
