Gaza Health Ministry: 70 Percent of Transport, Ambulance Vehicles Out of Service

Gaza: The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Saturday that its transportation and ambulance services have been disrupted, after 70 percent of its vehicles were put out of service.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry stated that the remaining old transportation and ambulance vehicles are no longer capable of meeting daily needs. It added that 70 percent of these vehicles have become inoperable due to direct targeting, the accumulation of mechanical failures, and the lack of spare parts.

The Ministry highlighted serious difficulties in meeting transportation needs for both patients and healthcare workers because safe transportation alternatives are unavailable. It warned that the continued ban on the entry of tires and spare parts could result in the complete paralysis of the transportation system.

Additionally, the Ministry noted that buses operated by transportation companies contracted by them are functioning under difficult mechanical and technical conditions. Routine maintenance has been suspended for months due to the unavailability of spare parts.

The Ministry emphasized the consequences of a halt in transportation services, stressing that it would significantly affect the ability of medical personnel and patients to reach healthcare facilities.
