Berlin: The German Federal Ministry of the Interior has announced the establishment of a permanent advisory council dedicated to combating extremism, protecting Muslim citizens, and strengthening the free democratic order.
According to Qatar News Agency, the step aims to develop effective preventative policies to counter this type of extremism, while preventing any stigmatization or discrimination targeting Muslim communities in the country.
In a statement, the Ministry of the Interior said that the new council will be tasked with providing regular recommendations on government policies to counter both violent and non-violent extremism, and developing awareness-raising projects tailored to the social context in Germany.
The ministry noted that the council will include experts from the fields of political and social sciences, representatives of civil society organizations, experts in combating extremism, and specialists in community engagement and integration.
The ministry clarified that this council will be responsible for strengthening trust between state institutions and Muslim communities in Germany, providing ongoing strategic advice to the federal government on evaluating current prevention programs and developing new mechanisms for awareness and community engagement.
It will also support initiatives to protect young people from extremism through education and communication.
