Hamad Bin Khalifa University Collaborates with Quantinuum to Boost Quantum Computing in Qatar.

Doha: Hamad Bin Khalifa University and Quantinuum have entered into a partnership aimed at advancing quantum computing in Qatar. The agreement, marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding, involves the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at HBKU working closely with Quantinuum, the largest integrated quantum computing company globally. According to Qatar News Agency, the collaboration focuses on the efforts of the Qatar Center for Quantum Computing (QC2), the first of its kind in Qatar. QC2 will explore use cases in fields such as quantum chemistry, quantum machine learning, artificial intelligence, and quantum-augmented cybersecurity. The center is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of both theoretical and practical research in quantum computing. Dr. Saif Al Kuwari, Director of QC2, expressed that the partnership is a step towards building a robust quantum ecosystem in Qatar, aimed at addressing both local and global challenges through impactful research. Dr. Rajeeb Hazra, President and CE O of Quantinuum, highlighted the synergy between the university's research strengths in biomedical, materials science, and AI, and Quantinuum's cutting-edge quantum computing technology. The collaboration will provide the QC2 team access to Quantinuum's latest quantum computing hardware, enhancing their expertise in quantum software, algorithms, and hardware.
