The pavilion of Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Natural Reserve Development Authority (ITBA), the second largest natural reserve in the Kingdom, won, for the second time in a row, first place in the competition for the most attractive display platform for the “environmental preservation and cultural heritage sector”.
It received the award at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX), the largest event of its kind in the region and Africa, which was held on Friday.
The authority’s pavilion, one of the largest at the exhibition, showcased the cultural and historical aspects of the community in the reserve, such as craftsmen and beekeepers.
The pavilion also highlighted the historical features of the reserve, including Al-Ashar pool exhibited as a 3D model, and architectural monuments.
The pavilion displayed the reserve with its unique environment, picturesque nature, biodiversity of fungal organisms, historical landmarks and tourist activities using display screens and modern visual illustration tools.
The reserve pavilion also highlighted to its visitors the customs and traditions of Saudi society, ways to support the local community, and efforts to develop the inherited handicraft industry and raising awareness about sustainable hunting by presenting the experience of the North Reserve, which extends over an area of 2,000 square kilometers within the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve
ITBA said that participation in the exhibition made it possible to exchange experience with specialists and experts from many countries, and learn about the latest technologies, plans and strategic visions, to raise awareness about ways of preserving natural resources and enhancing societal responsibility toward the environment.
