Doha: Iran announced Wednesday that it had shot down an Israeli F-35 fighter jet in an area south of the capital, Tehran.
According to Qatar News Agency, Iran’s official news agency, IRNA, quoted Hossein Abbasi, the governor of Varamin, as saying that the fighter jet crashed and was destroyed in the vicinity of Varamin.
He noted that security forces have opened an investigation into the incident. Official Iranian sources previously announced the downing of three Israeli warplanes since the start of Israeli attacks on Iran earlier this month.
