Israeli Airstrike on Tent Southern Gaza Leaves Two Dead, Several Injuries

Gaza City: Two Palestinians were killed and others injured today when Israeli warplanes bombed a tent housing displaced persons in the southern Gaza Strip, while Israeli forces sent military reinforcements to the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Palestine News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported that the Israeli occupation forces targeted a tent in Hamad City, northwest of Khan Yunis Governorate. This attack resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left others with injuries of varying severity.

Dozens of Palestinians have been killed and injured in the ongoing Israeli bombardment of the Rafah and Khan Yunis governorates in the southern Gaza Strip since dawn today.

In a related context, the government operations room in the Gaza Strip called for a strong international response to the ongoing situation. They urged the international community and UN organizations to take a decisive stance to halt the actions of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip. The statement also emphasized the need for opening crossings and facilitating the entry of relief aid to assist besieged civilians.

Director of the operations room, Mahdi Hamdan, highlighted the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. He stressed the urgency of a global response to the scenes of civilian suffering, especially among children and women, and the forced displacement under fire.

Representatives of the operations room in Gaza indicated the spread of diseases due to the accumulation of uncontrolled waste in the streets and displacement areas, worsening the population’s plight. They noted that many citizens are being displaced toward the West Coast Road after shelters were evacuated by order of the occupying forces.

Last Tuesday morning, the Israeli occupation, which has closed the Gaza Strip’s crossings to aid since the beginning of March, resumed its offensive. The ongoing conflict has resulted in 673 martyrs and 1,233 wounded, with 70 percent of the casualties being children, women, and the elderly, amid dire humanitarian conditions.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the death toll from the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, had risen to 50,021 martyrs and 113,274 wounded.

Meanwhile, Palestinian sources reported that occupation forces have sent military reinforcements from the Jalameh military checkpoint to Jenin camp. Drones have continued to fly over the city and camp since the morning, while occupation forces are combing the camp’s neighborhoods and homes, with military armored vehicles patrolling the area.

The Jenin municipality announced that occupation authorities had issued demolition orders for approximately 66 residential buildings in the camp, totaling about 300 apartments.

The aggression on the city of Jenin and its camp has continued for the 62nd consecutive day, resulting in 34 martyrs and dozens of injuries.
