Tokyo: Japan decided Tuesday to allocate more than $3 billion for energy bills during the summer to ease the impact of the conflict in the Middle East. In a cabinet meeting today, the Japanese government approved spending approximately 510 billion yen (about $3.2 billion) to help pay electricity and gas bills from July to September.
According to Qatar News Agency, the government stated that the funds will come from the 1 trillion yen reserve funds booked in the initial fiscal 2026 budget. The allocation aims to provide relief to households facing rising energy costs due to geopolitical tensions affecting global energy markets.
