Doha, Japan qualified for the 33rd Summer Olympic Games (Paris 2024) after defeating Bahrain 32/29 in the final match of the Asian Men’s Handball Qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games that was held in Doha, with the participation of 11 teams.
The Japanese team ended the first half with 18/13 and continued its lead in the second half, despite the Bahraini team’s attempts to adjust the result.
The Japanese team will represent the Asian continent in the Paris 2024 Olympics for the second time after participating in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as the host countrys team, while the Bahraini team will compete in a playoff qualifier next March.
After the match, President of the Qatari Handball Association Ahmed Al Shaabi and Vice President of the International Handball Federation and Treasurer of the Asian Federation Badr Dhiab crowned the Japanese team with gold medals, the Bahraini team with silver medals and the South Korean team with bronze medals.
