Amman: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s address at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly drew wide attention from global media, analysts, and experts. Observers stressed that it was not a conventional political speech but rather a comprehensive political document that helped redirect international discourse toward just causes, most importantly the Palestinian issue, while placing the international community before its legal and moral responsibilities.
According to Qatar News Agency, HH the Amir’s speech resonated strongly in Jordan, where political analysts described it as clear, courageous, and balanced, reflecting a comprehensive strategic vision grounded in respect for international law, rejection of double standards and external interference, and the promotion of dialogue as the sole path to conflict resolution. They emphasized that the speech delivered firm messages to key actors in the international order, underscoring the need to restore global justice beyond narrow interests and selective standards.
In remarks to QNA, Dr. Saher Al Adous, Professor of Finance at Al-Balqa University, said HH the Amir’s address at the UN was distinguished by intellectual and political boldness. He explained that when a country like Qatar — known for its humanitarian role and impartial mediation in conflicts — faces direct aggression by the Israeli occupation amid international silence, it raises serious questions about the credibility of the global order.
He underlined that HH the Amir’s address was decisive in reaffirming Qatar’s unwavering position on the Palestinian cause as the core of international justice in the region, holding the international community accountable for complicity with the Israeli occupation not only through silence but also by providing political and military cover while leaving Palestinians under repression and blockade.
He added that Qatar’s continued role as mediator, despite coming under attack, reflected maturity and strategic depth, and demonstrated that Qatari diplomacy is guided by principle rather than reaction.
Dr. Khaldoun Nseir, President of the Jordanian Forum for Economy and Democracy, considered HH the Amir’s speech to have redefined the responsibilities of states in confronting global crises. He noted that Qatar has become an influential state wielding soft power and capable of contributing positively to complex regional and international issues.
He stressed that Qatar approaches the international order as an active partner, not as a passive player, and that HH the Amir’s address was delivered in the language of responsibility rather than empty accusations. He pointed out that Qatar pursues a foreign policy based on respect for sovereignty, support for stability, and the provision of humanitarian aid without political conditions, earning it international trust and appreciation.
Nseir further highlighted that Qatar’s record of mediation in multiple files, from Afghanistan to Gaza, is rooted in credibility and longstanding respect. He noted that HH the Amir’s emphasis on genuine and principled mediation demonstrated that Qatar neither exerts coercion nor engages in superficial initiatives, but adheres consistently to its humanitarian and political commitments.
Riham Jaradat, an expert in international relations and strategic affairs, underlined that HH the Amir’s address was not directed solely at the General Assembly but also at major powers, calling on them to review their policies, halt support for repressive regimes, and stop ignoring blatant violations of international law.
She observed that the speech conveyed a clear message that peace is unattainable without justice, and mediation cannot succeed without mutual respect. According to her, HH the Amir placed the world before a simple equation: either the United Nations functions as a platform to safeguard international peace and security, or it risks becoming a stage for speeches in the absence of concrete action.
Jaradat emphasized that the speech presented Qatari diplomacy as a rational actor in a deeply troubled international order. She said HH the Amir’s insistence on pursuing mediation, despite Israeli aggression, reflected political courage and steadfastness, portraying Qatar as a leading state that defends its sovereignty without resorting to retaliation, while pursuing a calm, principled, and influential diplomatic path.
Jordanian experts collectively agreed that HH the Amir’s address came at a critical juncture for the region and the world, where conflicts are multiplying and ethical and legal safeguards are eroding. They stressed that Qatar is positioning itself as a voice of reason and balance amid an increasingly turbulent global political landscape.
