Jordanian King and Lebanese President Focus on Enhancing Bilateral Ties and Regional Stability

Amman: King Abdullah II of Jordan met on Tuesday with Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun, during his visit to the Kingdom, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations and to review the latest regional developments. During their meeting, both sides stressed the importance of increasing trade volume between the two nations and boosting joint investments, particularly in the energy, electricity, and infrastructure sectors.

According to Qatar News Agency, King Abdullah reaffirmed Jordan's support for Lebanon in its efforts to maintain its security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Moreover, the meeting touched on the importance of preserving security and stability in Syria.

With regard to regional issues, both leaders stressed the urgent need for an immediate end to the war on Gaza and the importance of ensuring that adequate humanitarian aid reaches all affected areas. They also rejected any plans to forcibly displace the Palestinians and underlined the need to intensify Arab and international efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

The Jordanian King also highlighted the serious danger posed by the ongoing and unprecedented escalation targeting Palestinians in the West Bank and the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. For his part, the Lebanese President emphasized the importance of strengthening security and defense cooperation between the two countries. Both sides affirmed their commitment to continued coordination and consultation on issues of mutual concern.
