Kuwait Civil Aviation Authority Reopens Airspace After Temporary Closure Due to Iranian Missile and Drone Attacks

Kuwait city: Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced the reopening of the country's airspace after a precautionary closure imposed following Iranian missile and drone attacks.

According to Qatar News Agency, the authority issued a statement on Saturday indicating that Kuwaiti airspace had been closed for two hours starting at 4:15 a.m. This measure was taken as a precaution after the country experienced missile and drone attacks originating from Iran.

During the closure, 11 flights operated by Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways were diverted to neighboring airports. This action was taken to ensure the safety of passengers and flight crews while maintaining operations in line with the highest security and safety standards, as mentioned in the statement.

The authority further explained that after coordinating with relevant agencies and confirming that conditions had stabilized and the threat had passed, air traffic operations and incoming flights resumed at 6:15 a.m. It also noted that flights that had been diverted to airports in Dammam and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, returned to Kuwait International Airport once airspace operations were back to normal.
