Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) organized an extensive workshop to review the themes of the “State of the Environment in the State of Qatar – Second Edition 2025” report, with the participation of experts and specialists from various national entities.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry explained in a statement Saturday that the report aims to document the environmental situation in the country in all its components, based on accurate scientific data and indicators for the period from 2020 to 2024, in cooperation with Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar University, and Earthna Center.
It noted that the report adopted the global methodology of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), known as the Driver-Pressure-State-Impact-Response (DPSIR) framework, and covers nine main chapters, including marine and terrestrial environments, air quality, climate change, biodiversity, waste and circular economy, policies and governance, and future outlooks.
In this context, Director of the Technical Office at the Ministry Engineer Hussein Al Kubaisi stressed that the issuance of the report embodies the State’s interest in the environment and its commitment to Qatar National Vision 2030 and the directives of the wise leadership.
He pointed out that the workshop provided an opportunity to review the report’s contents with strategic partners in order to benefit from their feedback prior to its final issuance.
For his part, Advisor at the Ministry Dr. Mohammed Saif Al Kuwari explained that the report represents a comprehensive scientific reference that enhances environmental sustainability efforts in the country and contributes to supporting decision-makers in formulating policies based on clear scientific foundations.
He affirmed the Ministry’s continued initiatives to protect natural resources and achieve sustainability for future generations.
