Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), represented by the Winter Camping Affairs Committee, in collaboration with the General Cleanliness Department at the Ministry of Municipality, and the Environmental Security Forces operating under the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), conducted extensive field tours covering various statewide camping areas. The move is part of an integrated plan aimed at ensuring the readiness of the sites and providing a secure and sanitized environment for all campers.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the tours, a significant number of sanitation containers were distributed to the designated camping sites, in addition to monitoring the curators' adherence to the approved environmental measures and ensuring the provision of essential requirements for maintaining the cleanliness of natural sites, in alignment with the MECC's objectives to promote secure and sustainable camping.
These efforts are part of consolidating the approach toward preserving natural resources and the beauty of Qatar's environmental landscape, as well as promoting a culture of environmental awareness among members of the community, the ministry affirmed in a statement on Saturday.
As such, MECC urged all campers to comply with the environmental requirements and the regulatory measures set by the Winter Camping Affairs Committee, to ensure that no waste is dumped, or damage is caused to natural components.
The environmental inspection teams will continue implementing field visits to ensure full adherence to these instructions, as the success of this camping season largely depends on the community's awareness and cooperation, the Ministry added.
It emphasized that collaboration among governmental agencies and the community represents a core pillar in achieving a recreational season characterized by safety and sustainability, reflecting the civil and environmental image of the State of Qatar.
Accordingly, MECC called on owners of unregistered winter camps to promptly formalize their campsites, stressing that failure to comply with the established deadline will result in the removal of the campsite.
In addition, the ministry affirmed that these efforts are part of Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to achieve sustainable development in its various dimensions by balancing economic growth, social development, and environmental protection, ensuring a prosperous future for the next generations.
