Minister of Labour Leads Consultative Session on Private Sector Nationalisation

Doha:The Minister of Labour, Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri, chaired the second consultative session focused on the Private Sector Nationalisation Plan and targets, specifically for companies listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange. This session aimed to engage chief executive officers and senior management from these companies.

According to Qatar News Agency, the session follows a prior meeting with state-owned companies and public-benefit entities, all part of the Ministry of Labour's strategy to ensure effective implementation of the Private Sector Nationalisation Law. The session sought to identify implementation mechanisms, discuss challenges, and gather feedback from companies.

Dr. Al Marri emphasized the Ministry's dedication to partnering with private-sector entities to support the Nationalisation Law's implementation. He highlighted the significance of companies on the Qatar Stock Exchange to the national economy and their role in achieving nationalisation targets.

The nationalisation plan includes setting targets by sector and category, introducing the Nationalisation Award, and outlining responsibilities for private companies, such as updating employee data, certifying regulations, and meeting employment targets. Companies are also required to use the 'Basher' platform and comply with the Wage Protection System.

For its part, the Ministry of Labour will notify establishments before law implementation, provide support and incentives, and assess the plan's effectiveness after two years. Sector regulators are tasked with aligning targets with sector realities, integrating nationalisation into monitoring, and supporting training pathways.

Dr. Al Marri reiterated the Ministry's commitment to empowering Qatari students for the labour market, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. He concluded by stressing the importance of collaboration among the Ministry, regulators, and private companies to ensure the plan's success.
