Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Unveils Comprehensive Ramadan Programs

Doha: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has announced its programs and activities for the blessed month of Ramadan during a press conference held at Imam Muhammad ibn Abd Al Wahhab Mosque. HE Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani, outlined the initiatives under the theme "Obedience and Forgiveness," emphasizing the Ministry's commitment to enhancing the spiritual and charitable atmosphere during Ramadan.

According to Qatar News Agency, preparations have commenced to ensure that mosques are ready for worshippers and those observing I'tikaf, with maintenance work and facilities in place for comfort. A special program has been launched to train imams, especially Qatari ones, to lead Taraweeh and Tahajjud prayers. The Ministry will continue organizing Iftar meals across the country, supported by the General Endowments Department and donors, alongside religious programs in multiple languages.

In a cultural initiative, Quranic and Hadith competitions, as well as interactive contests, aim to enrich religious knowledge and foster competition. The Ministry seeks to support low-income families through various charitable programs, including the "Gift Basket" initiative with the "Hifz Alnaema" project. Media programs, in collaboration with Qatar TV and other platforms, will ensure educational and religious messages reach a wide audience.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Sheikh Khalid emphasized the Ministry's goal of fostering solidarity and charity, urging participation in the programs to spread goodness during Ramadan. Director Mallah Abdulrahman Al Jaber outlined three major zakat campaigns, including "Guide Us to the Needy" and "Your Zakat Enriches Them," aiming to collect QR 170 million in zakat revenue and coordinate Zakat Al Fitr distribution.

Dr. Fayez Al Shammari of the Islamic Competitions Department highlighted key activities, including the Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah International Award and the "Outstanding Researcher" competition. The Ramadan competition has moved to an electronic format, providing immediate results and prizes.

Dr. Sulaiman Jumaan Al Qahtani confirmed mosque preparations, with 2,385 mosques ready for Ramadan. Over 200 mosques are designated for I'tikaf, and the "Rushd" project will involve students leading prayer calls. Al Qahtani emphasized the readiness of over 40 mosques for the Quran's completion during Taraweeh prayers.

Director Jassim Abdullah Al Ali of the Religious Guidance and Call Department announced 950 field activities, including the launch of an Islamic encyclopedia in sign language. The "Ramadan Oasis" website will be updated, and the 11th edition of the Ramadan Dialogue Program will feature scholars from the Islamic world.

Jassim Buhaza of the Endowment Funds Department detailed 11 events, including support for those in need and the launch of the Katara Quran and Poet of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Awards. Iftar tents and the "Gift Basket" initiative will support imams and muezzins, and the Gulf Endowment Week will raise awareness about endowments. New endowment projects, including residential villas and a commercial building, will also be opened during Ramadan.
