Ministry of Endowments: “Fasting Child” Festival Promotes Religious and Educational Values among Children


Doha: The Department of Religious Guidance at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs organized the “Fasting Child” Festival for 1446 AH / 2025.



According to Qatar News Agency, the festival involved 170 Qatari students, aged between 5 and 11, in a setting designed to teach them about fasting practices, its rules, and etiquettes, encouraging them to fast during Ramadan. Assistant Director Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani highlighted the Ministry’s efforts to instill religious and moral values in children through engaging educational activities and competitions.



Sheikh Abdulrahman emphasized the festival’s role in introducing children to the pillars of fasting, promoting patience, self-discipline, and empathy, and fostering social solidarity. Dr. Ahmed Al Furajabi noted the importance of introducing fasting to children gradually, focusing on patience, self-control, and understanding others’ struggles.



The festival featured educational activities, competitions, physical games, and interactive sessions to teach religious concepts appropriately. Students from Al Noor Quranic Educational Center participated in some segments, enhancing the event’s educational reach.



New participants from organizations like the General Authority For Minors’ Affairs and The Orphan Care Center “Dreama” joined this year’s festival, enriching the experience. Students were recognized for their enthusiasm and dedication, receiving gifts to encourage continued practice of the values learned.



The “Fasting Child” Festival is a signature initiative of the Ministry, aimed at children fasting for the first time, reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening young people’s Islamic identity through fun and educational methods. The positive response from students and families highlights the festival’s success in achieving its educational and religious objectives.
