MOC to Launch 2nd Fereej Arts, Design Festival Next Sunday


Doha: The Ministry of Culture (MOC) announced that the second edition of the Fereej Arts and Design Festival will be held in Darb Al Saai from November 9 to 14.



According to Qatar News Agency, this edition will see the participation of more than 120 artists from 21 countries: Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, South Korea, Japan, Azerbaijan, Morocco, India, Australia, Spain, Iraq, Russia, Oman, Lebanon, Philippines, Algeria, Jordan, Syria, Yemen, Indonesia, and Iran.



It will feature more than 12 exhibitions and 14 workshops, 6 of which will be introducing diverse art from around the world, such as Japanese Bingata, Kuwaiti glass fusing, Australian natural color making, Indian fabric printing, and many more that merge tradition and contemporary art.



Director of the Ministry’s Visual Art Center, Huda Al Yafei, stated that holding the second edition of the Fereej Arts and Design Festival reflects the Center’s commitment to contribute to the cultural and artistic movement in Qatar, as well as celebrate creativity in all its forms.



She added that they made sure to have this edition be richer and more diverse by welcoming artists from different countries and expanding the type of events to include workshops and interactive activities for all people.



The Fereej Arts and Design Festival is not just a festival, but a platform for artistic dialogue, innovation, and cultural exchange, Al Yafei highlighted.



The festival includes six main artistic sections for exhibitions, workshops, typography, porcelain, artist’s studio, and one for lectures, art shop, and children’s area.



A number of cultural and academic institutes will be partaking in the festival from Qatar and abroad, including the Katara Art Center, Qatar Museums Gallery – Al Riwaq, the Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Center, the Qatar Cultural Center for the Deaf, Qatar University, University of Babylon, University of Mosul, and Al Mustansiriya University, in addition to several artistic centers from the participating countries.



The festival program includes children’s artistic events, live painting in open spaces, workshops for art schools, a free design area, dialogue sessions, and artistic lectures that bring together artists, critics, and enthusiasts.
