Doha: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) announced Thursday the reopening of Elite Motor Corporation (Chery), after implementing a series of comprehensive corrective measures that met the Ministry's requirements.

According to Qatar News Agency, this followed a temporary administrative closure imposed on the company due to violations related to the unavailability of spare parts and delayed after-sales services. The MOCI issued Administrative Decision No. (23/2025) on Aug. 17, ordering the administrative closure of the company for a period of one month.

This closure was imposed after 94 repeated violations of the same type were recorded, in addition to a number of complaints filed by consumers. This constitutes a violation of the provisions of Article (16) of Law No. (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection and its Executive Regulations.

Elite Motor Corporation - Chery has taken a series of corrective measures, including resolving all customer service complaints received by the MOCI, increasing its spare parts inventory by submitting urgent supply orders worth QR 3.5 million, and coordinating with the manufacturer to increase supply rates to reduce waiting times. Chery also committed to paying the fines imposed on it, which amounted to QR 564,000.

As part of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's commitment to supporting the stability of the automotive sector and promoting national trade, and given the company's commitment to rectifying its situation, the MOCI decided to limit the current closure period to the current period and allow the showroom to reopen.

The MOCI explained that the measures taken by the company reflect its response to the Ministry's directives and contribute to improving after-sales services and enhancing consumer confidence in the local market. The MOCI emphasized the continuation of its oversight and inspection efforts to ensure that all commercial establishments comply with the provisions of Law No. (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection, calling on all citizens and residents to report any violations or transgressions.
