Seoul: South Korea’s military said that North Korea fired short-range ballistic missiles toward the East Sea on Thursday, marking its first ballistic missile test since last March.
According to Qatar News Agency, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said it had detected the launch, which included multiple types of short-range ballistic missiles, from the eastern coastal city of Wonsan in North Korea.
The JCS reported that one of the missiles launched by North Korea today flew 800 km before landing in the East Sea, while the other two missiles flew 250 km and 350 km, respectively.
In this context, the Korean military condemned the launch, describing it as a “blatant provocative act” that seriously threatens peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
The JCS stated that, in light of the resolute joint defense posture between Seoul and Washington, the military is closely monitoring various North Korean activities and maintaining a formidable capability and posture capable of responding to any provocation.
