Doha: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a warning concerning the significant risks associated with the recent announcement by Israeli occupation authorities. These authorities have disclosed plans to implement measures that would unlawfully annex and impose so-called "Israeli sovereignty" over the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
According to Qatar News Agency, the OIC General Secretariat emphasized that the Israeli occupation, along with its colonial settlement enterprise and any related measures, entities, and institutions, are illegal. The actions linked to these plans are considered blatant violations of international law, relevant international resolutions, and the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice.
The General Secretariat has reiterated its call for the international community, especially the United Nations Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities by taking necessary steps to compel Israel, the occupying power, to halt its policies of killings, settlement expansion, annexation, systematic terrorism, blockade, and forcible displacement. The call underscores the need for Israel to adhere to its obligations under international law, pertinent resolutions, and the United Nations Charter.
Additionally, the OIC urged the activation of the international justice process to ensure accountability and legal prosecution of those responsible for crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, in line with international criminal law.
